Access Strategy

It is proposed that the main vehicular access to the site will be from Horton Road.

Our initial proposal is for a new fourth arm off the existing roundabout serving the Lay Wood housing development.

A potential second access would be from a new T junction further west on Horton Road. The use of two accesses could provide flexibility and help distribute the vehicle movements.

The site accesses and internal routes will be designed to allow for safe pedestrian and cycle movement.

The impact of development traffic on the local road network including nearby junctions is being assessed by consultants, WSP, in discussion with Wiltshire Council highway officers.

The commercial vehicle movements associated with the development are likely to be distributed throughout the day rather than concentrated in the peak hours.

Existing bus stops on Horton Road allow access to the site via public transport.  A Travel Plan, with measures to encourage sustainable travel to and from the site, is being developed and an outline version will be submitted alongside a comprehensive Transport Assessment with the planning application.
